🇺🇸 FREE PHONE. FREE INTERNET. You’ve Earned It.
Every month, households across the country go without a phone line they are entitled to have covered — not because they were turned down, but because nobody told them the benefit exists. The program is called Lifeline. It is federal, it is permanent, and applying costs nothing.
What You Can Get — At No Cost To You
- 📱 A smartphone from participating carriers, with no credit check
- 🌐 Monthly internet service included on qualifying plans
- 📞 Talk and text allowances that cover normal household use
- 💰 Up to $9.25 off your phone or internet bill each month
- 🏕️ Up to $34.25 monthly if you live on qualifying Tribal lands
No contract. No deposit. No early termination fee.
You Probably Already Qualify
Receiving any one of these means you are almost certainly eligible:
- ✅ Medicaid
- ✅ SNAP (food stamps)
- ✅ Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- ✅ Federal Public Housing Assistance
- ✅ Veterans Pension or Survivors Benefit
- ✅ Certain Tribal assistance programs
And if none of those apply, a household income at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines qualifies you on its own.
How to Get Your Free Phone or Service in 3 Steps
Step 1 — Check your eligibility. Go to LifelineSupport.org, the official federal portal. It takes under five minutes and commits you to nothing.
Step 2 — Pick your provider. Several carriers operate in most states. Many include a device when you enrol, and their offers are not identical.
Step 3 — Get connected. The discount starts applying to your bill, and any included handset ships to your address.
Why Most People Never Claim This Benefit
Three reasons, over and over. They assume it sounds too generous to be real. They expect the paperwork to be punishing. Or the program simply never crossed their path.
None of those are good reasons to leave it unclaimed. This is a federal benefit funded specifically for households in your position, and the money is already set aside.
The Only Thing You Need to Do Right Now
Check whether you qualify. That is the whole first step. It is free, it takes minutes, and for a great many households it removes a bill permanently.
Staying reachable — for work, for family, for an emergency — should not be the thing your budget has to sacrifice.
ℹ️ Important: Lifeline is administered by USAC under FCC oversight. One benefit per household. Recertification is required every twelve months.
